GT Radial Driver Becomes Youngest Formula Drift Winner

June 11, 2025

Giti Tire (USA) Ltd. has announced that Hiroya Minowa, a fifteen-year-old GT Radial driver, has become the youngest person to ever win the Formula Drift competition. Mionwa competed on GT Radial Tires.

The final race took place at the Orlando Speed World on May 31 in Orlando, Fla.

Minowa drives a Toyota GT86 on GT Radial Champiro SX2 tires for Enjuku Racing/BC Racing/ Jerry Yang Racing.

Another GT Radial driver, Aurimas Bakchis, joined Minowa on the Orlando podium with a third-place finish.

“We are very proud to be part of Formula DRIFT history,” says Mike Meeiem, motorsports manager for GT Radial.

“Based on Hiroya’s two podium finishes last year, we knew it was only a matter of time before he stood atop a podium. Congratulations to his entire team and to our South Carolina plant associates who produce our highly competitive drifting tire.”

GT Radial is now in second place in the 2025 Formula DRIFT Tire Cup standings. The brand won the Tire Cup in 2023. The Champiro SX2 RS tires, which are available for street use, are produced at the company’s passenger/light truck tire manufacturing facility in Richburg, S.C.
