GT Radial Wins 2025 Formula Drift Tire Cup
GT Radial clinched the 2025 Formula Drift Tire Cup in convincing fashion on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Streets of Long Beach in the final round of this year’s competition. The win marks the second Tire Cup for GT Radial in the last three years.
Hiroya Minowa of Japan, driving a Toyota GT86 on GT Radial Champiro SX2 RS tires, captured second place in Long Beach for the Enjuku Racing/BC Racing/Jerry Yang Racing team. The 15-year-old drifting sensation finished fourth in the season’s driver standings.
GT Radial driver Matt Field finished second in the driver standings. There were five GT Radial drivers in the top 10 for the season. In addition to Field and Minowa, Adam LZ finished fifth, Aurimas Bakchis at eighth, and Dylan Hughes in ninth place. GT Radial had a total of 10 podiums in 2025.
“We’re incredibly proud to win the Tire Cup for the second time in three years, and to see five of our drivers finish in the top 10,” said GT Radial Motorsports Manager Mike Meeiem. “This achievement reflects the outstanding performance of our tires and the passion of everyone involved — from our talented Formula DRIFT drivers to the dedicated team producing the Champiro SX2 RS tires at our South Carolina plant. They can all take pride in knowing these championship-winning tires are truly ‘Made in the USA.’”
Meeiem added, “Winning the Formula DRIFT Tire Cup isn’t just about proving ourselves on the track — it’s about showing everyday drivers what GT Radial tires are capable of. The same engineering that helps our drivers dominate in one of the most demanding motorsports in the world goes into the GT Radial tires people buy for their own cars and trucks. When fans see our performance in Formula DRIFT, it builds real confidence in choosing GT Radial for their daily drive.”
The GT Radial brand won its first Tire Cup in 2023. Champiro SX2 RS tires are available for street use in addition to competing in Formula DRIFT.
