Motul remains faithful to the historic Isle of Man TT

May 31, 2012

Motul, a leading brand of motorcycle lubricants, is proud to be the Official Lubricants Partner of the Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy for the third consecutive year.  This historic race is considered the spiritual home of motorcycles and their riders – a place where legends are born.  A full week of practice is currently underway with races beginning this Saturday, June 2, and running through June 9.
Road racing champions of the past and present are the first to admit there’s something very special about the Isle of Man TT.  They are joined by some of the world’s most illustrious names from industry, technology and sport who are drawn back each year by the mythology, history and excitement of the event.
The challenge of the 37.73 mile public road circuit, snaking through the scenic Isle of Man (which lies in the Irish Sea between the North West coast of England and Northern Ireland); captures the imagination and aspirations of competitors, fans and spectators alike.  In the same way, the challenge of pioneering new and improved products consistently draws Motul to the world’s most competitive arenas such as the TT.
Recognized for more than 150 years for the quality of its products, capacity for innovation and involvement in the field of competition; Motul is involved in all major two-wheel championships from MotoGP to Superbikes to World Endurance and, of course, the TT.
Motul considers the highest levels of competition to be a vital test bench and living laboratory for its products, and its 100% synthetic 300V lubricant will be used by a number of teams and riders throughout this year’s TT entry list.  These include the highly-rated Tyco by TAS Suzuki and Honda TT Legends teams, both of which have high-profile rider line ups.
The famously outgoing Guy Martin, who finished second in last year’s Senior Race, is joined at TAS Suzuki by “Manxman” Connor Cummins.  Cummins recorded a sixth place finish in the second 2011 Supersport class race in the Isle of Man TT, that after his returning from an injury.
The Honda TT Legends team needs little introduction -- the name says it all.  Leading an incomparable rider line-up at the 2012 TT is 17-time winner and a legend in his own right, John McGuinness.  One of the all-time giants of road racing, McGuinness, known as the ‘Morecombe Missile,’ is expected to be the man to beat and he will be teamed with the 2011 TT’s fastest newcomer, Simon Andrews.
Another Motul racing partner in the 2012 Isle of Man TT is Wilson Craig Racing.  The team recently enjoyed excellent results in the Superbike category at the International North West 200 in Northern Ireland, an event won by McGuinness.  Included in the Wilson Craig rider roster is 2008 TT winner Cameron Donald.  He will be joined at the TT by William Dunlop, who is looking to improve on his three top-six finishes.
Other riders carrying the Motul colors will be Ian Mackman (Super stock - Kawasaki /Super sport – Kawasaki), Dave Hewson  (Superbike - Kawasaki / Supersport – Yamaha),  John Holden (Side car - Kawasaki) and Brandon Cretu (Superbike - Supersport - Superstock - Honda) who is currently the youngest American to ever compete at the Isle of Man TT.
As part of its partnership with the event, Motul will also be offering the “Motul Award for Technical Performance” and will be providing live coverage of the event through its global Facebook page at  This will include interviews, progress reports and photographs from an on-site correspondent from June 2 - 9.
