Hankook Driver Chris Forsberg gets third place at the Gauntlet

June 25, 2012

Hankook driver Chris Forsberg brought home a third place podium finish at round four of the 2012 Formula Drift season this past weekend at Wall Speedway in Wall, New Jersey.  The sold out event saw fans from all over the North East come out to see one of the most anticipated races of the year, with over 200,000 additional viewers taking in the action on Formula Drift’s Driftstream online service.

Fierce competition saw Forsberg in his Hankook Nissan 370Z advance quickly from top 32 through top 8, matching him against Diago Saito in his Lexus SC430 in the battle for third.  After a close race Forsberg scored a third place podium finish, his second podium of the season having scored a second place finish at Round 3: Invasion in Palm Beach, Florida earlier this year.  Forsberg’s third place finish brings Hankook’s 2012 Formula drift results to three podiums finishes out of four races this year to date.

“Wall Speedway is the most technical track on the Formula Drift circuit, the control that we can achieve with our Hankook RS-3’s is unprecedented,” said Forsberg.  “We are so happy to get Hankook on the podium in their hometown with a Top 3 finish.”

Forsberg and his Hankook Tire racing teammates compete on Hankook’s Ventus R-S3 Extreme Performance Summer tire.  Developed for serious sports car, sports coupe and performance sedan enthusiasts the Ventus R-S3 offers drivers looking for outstanding race tire-like traction on the street or for use in autocross, drifting or track events.

“Wall Speedway is a fantastic location for Formula Drift, for both fans and drivers,” said Hankook Motorsports marketing manager Paul Jho.  “Track conditions were hot and constantly changing this weekend, but Chris and his team were able to setup his car and Ventus RS-3 tires to get him on the podium with great results.”

The 2012 Formula Drift series makes its next stop at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington for Round Five: Throwdown on July 20th and 21st.
