Driver and tire dealer win NHRA Pro Stock race

July 8, 2012

The winner of the 12th Pro Stock event in the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season was Vincent Nobile.

Sound familiar? Maybe not. But his sponsors should: Mountain View Tire & Service Inc.

Mountain View's CEO and President Nick Mitsos was Modern Tire Dealer's 2011 Tire Dealer of the Year. His victorious crew was on hand (or is that hands on?) at the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, Friday through Sunday, July 6-8.

At the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Nobile and his Dodge Avenger dominated. Not only did he defeat Jason Line in the Pro Stock finals on Sunday -- driving 208 miles an hour in the process -- but also finished first in the K&N Horsepower Challenge on Saturday.

The win was Nobile's and Mountain View's second of the year, and moves them into fifth place in the standings, 25 points behind fourth-place driver Mike Edwards and his Summit Racing team..

Last year, Nobile and Mountain View won three races -- called "Wallys" -- and finished fifth overall.

Mountain View Tire is based in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Its headquarters also houses Mountain View Racing, which includes a race car fabrication and engine building business.

With 30 stores, Mountain View Tire is 39th on the MTD 100 list.
