Pirelli posts revenue, income gains during first nine months

Pirelli & Cie SpA achieved revenues of 3.6 billion euros for the first nine months of 2006, an increase of 9.1% over the first nine months of 2005.

Pirelli's operating income for the first nine months rose 8.3% over previous-year levels to 299.7 million euros.

The Italian company's Pirelli Tyre division posted revenues of nearly 3 billion euros, up 10.5% from the first nine months of 2005. The unit's operating income was 278.8 million euros, a 2.8% increase.

"Pirelli's selective growth in North America continues... supported by new products such as the Scorpion ATR SUV tire," say Pirelli officials.
