Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing Inc. was recently named Georgia Manufacturer of the Year.
The award honors companies with more than 500 employees. Jim Lientz, chief operating officer for the State of Georgia, presented the award to Toyo officials during Georgia Manufacturing Appreciation Week in Atlanta.
Toyo has a plant in White, Ga., its first manufacturing facility in North America. The plant opened in 2005 and features Toyo's highly automated Advanced Tire Operation Module (ATOM) production system.
ATOM is engineered for multi-product, small-lot production, according to Toyo officials.
