The LeDuc family, father Curt and sons Todd and Kyle, once again proved they are a force to reckon with while competing on 35X12.50R17 Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires in short course at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series. The team returned to the series for the second time ever this past weekend driving their Rockstar/Makita/Ford Trucks/Toyo Tires F-150 trucks to compete in the season finale at Primm, Nevada.
During Saturday’s Unlimited 2 class race, Todd LeDuc extended his Lucas Oil Series consecutive win streak to three in a row by winning the race in a field of 19 trucks. He returned Sunday to finish in second place to hold the top two spots on the Unlimited 2 podium for the weekend.
“Overall, we had a great weekend. On Sunday, I finished second by only a half a truck length, then my motor let loose just after the finish line,” said Todd LeDuc. “Other racers were asking me what I thought of my Toyo Tires and I said they are the best overall tire for short course racing today.”
In the Unlimited 4 class, both Curt and Kyle LeDuc proved they could hold the top spots. During Saturday’s race, Kyle LeDuc finished in second with his four-wheel-drive race truck. On Sunday, father Curt was the number one qualifier, placing him on the pole for the start of the race with Kyle alongside in the number two spot. Curt led the first two laps of the race, Kyle then moving into the lead to take the race win. In the process, Kyle LeDuc also set the Fastest Lap of the Weekend.
“I ran the exact same set of Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires both days,” said Kyle LeDuc. “It was an awesome setup, working well on the blue groove, also where it was super loamy.”
During the 2009 season, Kyle LeDuc finished second overall in the TORC series championship for the Pro 4WD class, while Todd LeDuc finished third overall in Pro 2WD. Between TORC and the Lucas Oil Series, Team LeDuc has scored 12 race victories for Toyo Tires in short course racing this year.
“We congratulate the LeDuc family for having another outstanding weekend in the Lucas Oil Series,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “Their dominance in Primm once again demonstrates the Toyo Open Country M/T-R is the tire of winners in off-road racing.”
Look for Team Toyo Off-Road drivers such as the LeDuc’s, Ron Whitton and Robby Gordon to compete later this week in the 42nd running of the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Robby Gordon leads the overall SCORE-International points championship heading into this race, only needing to finish the race to win the 2009 championship.
