Hankook is named 2013 Formula Drift Series Tire Manufacturer

In an action packed weekend that saw some of the most intense competition of the season, Hankook Tire made it a double by bringing home another podium finish and winning the inaugural 2013 Formula Drift Tire Manufacturer Championship.
 
Leading the good news was Tyler McQuarrie’s second place podium finish in his Hankook Camaro.  McQuarrie raced through the competition making his way to the final four, meeting up against Forrest Wang in his Nissan 240SX.  After a tight run, McQuarrie was just too much for Wang, guaranteeing him a podium and finishing second at Irwindale overall.
 
“Finishing second at a sold out Irwindale is a great end to the season,” said Hankook driver Tyler McQuarrie. “Helping Hankook Tire secure the tire manufacturer championship makes it even more rewarding!”
 
McQuarrie’s second place podium finish secured Hankook Tire’s points lead among the eight tire companies competing in Formula Drift’s inaugural tire manufacturer competition, winning Hankook Tire the 2013 Formula Drift Tire Manufacturer Championship with its Ventus R-S3 Extreme Summer Performance tire earning top honors.
 
“Winning the very first Formula Drift Series Tire Manufacturer Championship is a fantastic achievement for Hankook,” said Hankook Motorsports Marketing Manager, Paul Jho. “All of our Hankook Tire drivers really stepped up and gave-it-their-all this year.  What a great way to end the season!”
 
In total, Hankook Tire secured six podium finishes during the 2013 Formula Drift season, including one first place win.  Additionally, Hankook Tire drivers Chris Forsberg and Fredric Aasbo finished the finished the season second and fourth respectively in the overall Formula Drift  Pro Championship points standings.
