SEMA seeks scholarship applicants

Feb. 13, 2003

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) is offering college and vocational school scholarships.

"We are seeking the best and the brightest students who are preparing for careers in the automotive aftermarket," says Dr. Kendall Pyle, SEMA's director of educational services.

Scholarships are open to students who are:

* currently enrolled in a four-year degree or graduate level program at an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours or have been classified as a junior or senior at the time of scholarship application;

* currently enrolled in a two-year community college or proprietary vocational technical program who have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours or have been classified as a sophomore.

All applicants must have a grade point average of at least 2.0, demonstrate financial need that is equal to or greater than the award amount ($1,000 or more), and be pursuing a course of study leading to a career in the automotive aftermarket or a related field, says SEMA.

Last year, SEMA awarded $80,000 in scholarship money to 60 students in 18 states.
