Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers Inc. recently opened its 38th location, this one in Shiloh, Ill., in the metro St. Louis market.

Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers is headquartered in High Ridge, Mo., and is the 30th largest independent tire store chain, according to Modern Tire Dealer.

It is the company's fifth store in Illinois and is located in "the fastest growing area in the bi-state region, close to Scott Air Force Base, which employs nearly 6,500 military and 3,500 civilians," according to the company.

"Expansion into targeted growth markets of southern Illinois is part of our overall business strategy to meet the tire and automotive service needs of consumers while optimizing our annual revenue growth," said David Dobbs, president and chief operating officer.

"The new Shiloh store is our flagship store, the largest of all of our stores. We've equipped it with state-of-the-art technology to efficiently conduct business and we've staffed the store to ensure total customer satisfaction."

Dwight Tuttle is store manager and Bruce Mullett is service manager at the new location, which also employs 20 other associates. The 8,700-square-foot facility, which includes 10 service bays and two Quick Lube drive-through bays, is open seven days a week.

Dobbs plans to open its next store in late October in Wentzville, Mo., outside St. Louis in adjacent St. Charles County.

"Wentzville is strategically located at Interstates I-70 and I-64 and it is also one of the fastest-growing cities in America," said Darrell Schelp, vice president of sales and marketing.
