Pete’s Tire Barns Inc. has opened a 12,000-square-foot store in West Chesterfield, N.H. The Orange, Mass.-based dealer held an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the outlet, which provides retail and commercial tire services.
Pete’s Tire Barns President Peter Gerry was joined by state politicians at the ceremony. Gerry told guests the “building was designed from the ground up to be energy net plus, meaning eventually we will produce more power then we consume.”
The new store incorporates many green technologies. For example, a geothermal heating and cooling system allows the buildings temperature to be controlled all without the use of fossil fuels.
The building also features LED light fixtures that automatically dim to save energy by monitoring the available natural light. Future plans include solar panels, solar tube lighting and waste heat recapture to heat domestic hot water, according to the company.
In addition to the low-energy use building, the new location has a propane-powered tire service truck.
The new store has four passenger and light truck tire service bays, three commercial tire service bays and a heavy duty alignment machine. The store stocks tires for all sizes of equipment from the smallest hand truck to the largest earthmover.
Pete's Tire Barns operates 19 full-service locations in New England, a new distribution center, and two Bandag retread facilities. The company employs more than 200 people, and operates a fleet of over 130 service and delivery vehicles. In 2013, Pete’s Tire Barns celebrated its 45th year in business and is No. 53 on the MTD 100.
