Re-engineered Dunlop SP Sport A2 is a 'Plus'

Jan. 31, 2005

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. introduced its re-engineered Dunlop SP Sport A2 at its dealer meeting near Dallas, Texas, earlier today. As part of enhancing the tire's performance, the company renamed the tire the SP Sport A2 Plus.

The tire's tread wear performance has been improved dramatically, according to the company. The new tire carries a UTQG tread wear rating of 460; the previous A2 was rated at 420.

At the same time, Goodyear says the tire's handling and traction qualities have been maintained. In addition, the tire features "significant construction and tread compound enhancements" versus the original A2 line.

Goodyear is adding three 17-inch, H-rated sizes to the Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus line: P205/40R17, P215/45R17 and 225/55R17. Product code and material numbers from the A2 will be changed as they come into the new line, adds the company.
