Michelin debuts tire and wheel care products

Michelin North America Inc.'s wheel and tire care products are the first to be developed for and approved by a leading tire manufacturer.

The three-step Michelin Wheel & Tire Care Program features patent-pending technology that allows the formulas to work at the molecular level to shield wheels from corrosive and unsightly brake dust, according to the company. The formulas are both strong and environmentally responsible.

The Michelin Wheel & Tire Care Program includes the following:

* Michelin Wheel & Tire Cleaner.

* Michelin 3-in-1 Tire Shine.

* Michelin Brake Dust Repellent.

Michelin is marketing the products at AutoZone and Canadian Tire Corp. stores, along with other select regional retailers.

The manufacturer-suggested retail prices for the individual products, available this month, will range from $4.99 to $5.99 in the United States.

To engineer and manufacture its innovative product line, Michelin selected Fernandina Beach, Fla.-based Petroferm Inc., as its licensing partner.

"Michelin takes great care in advising consumers about the best way to care for their tires," says Chris Dawes, managing director, Michelin Lifestyle Ltd. "Until now, we did not recommend using these types of products because we weren't totally comfortable about their effects on tires or the environment."

Michelin says it will continue to widen its automotive accessories range with the introduction of high quality products aimed at improving mobility. Product launches over the coming months will include inflation and pressure monitoring tools; air compressors and air tools; and car mats.
