Pirelli SpA plans to raise its passenger, light truck/SUV and commercial tire prices in both North America and Europe by 4.5% in December.

Pirelli officials say escalating raw material and energy costs make the price increase necessary.

In addition, the Italian tiremaker also will hike its motorcycle tire prices by 6%.
