T.O. Haas and Uniroyal support youth soccer

Nov. 3, 2005

T.O. Haas Tire and Michelin North America's Uniroyal Tire recently held soccer clinics in Lincoln, Neb., featuring three-time Olympic Medalist Julie Foudy.

Eighty-five players from the Capital Soccer Association and its TOPSoccer program took part in the program funded by the tire dealership and Uniroyal Tire. TOPSoccer club is a program for young athletes with mental and physical disabilities.

Foudy has been a Uniroyal Tire spokesperson for the past five years and has helped the company develop a nationwide youth soccer program that provides equipment and funds to local soccer leagues.

Since 2000, Uniroyal Tire and its dealers have given away $9 million in equipment and funds to thousands of youth soccer leagues across America.

Through the Uniroyal Tire Soccer Program, T.O. Haas Tire has been a strong supporter of the Capital Soccer Association since 2001, donating more than $21,000 in funds and equipment to the local soccer club. The tire dealer has also placed a special focus on helping the league’s TOPSoccer program, going above and beyond by doubling all monies raised through the Uniroyal Tire program’s yearly fundraisers.

"We were thrilled to offer this opportunity to the members of the Capital Soccer Association,” said George Hoellen, president of T.O. Haas Tire. "It was an honor to have an Olympic athlete in our hometown, and there could not have been a more deserving group of children for her to spend the day with."

The clinic concluded with a check presentation from T.O. Haas Tire to the Capital Soccer Association for funds raised during this year’s soccer program promotion. Uniroyal Tire also presented the league with a donation of soccer equipment designed especially for the needs of TOPSoccer players.
