Target Tire's Stein takes over as ACCC chairman

June 18, 2004

Howard Stein, president of Target Tire Inc., is American Car Care Centers' new chairman of the board. He replaces Bill Williams, president of Jack Williams Tire Co. Inc., who recently completed a one-year term.

Jacksonville, N.C.-based Target Tire, one of the largest tire distributors in the southeastern United States, has been an ACCC member distributor since 1998.

"I have told our dealers and employees that ACCC is the most important thing that we at Target Tire have to offer our dealers," says Stein. "As I have said many times to the other 18 partners in ACCC, our company was a darn good one before our participation in the group, but we are a measurably better company because of our being a part of ACCC."

As ACCC chairman, Stein has set the following goals:

* increase membership at ACCC's member distributor, master retailer and associate dealer levels.

* add value to the programs through the building of vendor relationships.

* differentiate ACCC from competitive programs.

Target Tire's main lines are Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Continental, General, Bridgestone, Firestone, Cooper and Hankook. It services Virginia, North and South Carolina, eastern Tennessee, Georgia and northern Florida through 11 distribution centers.

Tire's dealer network includes 120 ACCC dealers.

"Howard has been an extremely strong supporter of ACCC," says Len Lewin, ACCC president. "We are pleased that he has agreed to chair the group, and are excited at the objectives he has outlined."

ACCC, based in Memphis, Tenn., is associated with 1,104 independent dealer locations in 45 states.
