Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) plans to make its HDL and HTL super single medium truck tires available in mid-2006.
CTNA originally unveiled the size 445/50R22.5 tires in early 2003 and had hoped to make them available by next year.
However, more testing of the tires is being conducted, according to CTNA Director of Commercial Marketing Clif Armstrong, with the goal of ensuring belt package durability.
"You have to make the inside of (these tires) right," says Armstrong, due to their wide footprints.
"We´re in the process of making sure we can compete" with other tiremakers´ super single products.
