Tire registration has risen 48% over the last two years, and independent tire dealers have been responsible for the majority of that growth, according to CIMS Inc., an Akron, Ohio-based tire registration firm.
"Those dealers deserve a great deal of credit for accepting the responsibility of helping tire purchasers register their tires," says CIMS President Paul Kruder.
CIMS estimates that more than 80 million tires were registered in 2003.
