"Everything will be important" during Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC´s (BFNT) upcoming labor contract talks with the United Steelworkers of America (USWA), says a BFNT spokesman. "There´s no specific issue that will be front and center."
Both parties officially return to the bargaining table on Dec. 6.
"It´s a good step in the right direction. You can´t get a contract when you´re not talking."
Preliminary meetings between BFNT and union representatives last month enabled the groups "to lay the foundation for talks."
Steelworkers broke off negotiations with BFNT one year ago after rejecting a counterproposal from the company. Union leaders claimed the offer did not address job security and other issues.
