Nokian Tyres plc plans to add two new tires to its winter tire line-up: the Hakkapeliitta R and the Hakkapeliitta R SUV.
The Hakkapeliitta R will be available this fall. "The sidewall of (the tire) is labelled with the words 'ultra-low rolling resistance,'" say Nokian officials. "This promises that the tire will roll very efficiently."
Nokian says the tire surpasses predecessor's braking ability on ice and snow, and also in the rain.
Also on the way is the Hakkapeliitta R SUV, which "fits almost all SUVs. Retail sales of the tire will begin in the Nordic countries, Russia and other major markets in the spring of 2008."
In related news, Nokian says it plans to expand its Hakkapeliitta brand truck tire line-up.
