Goodyear explores licensing opportunities

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is looking for opportunities to extend its brand into new and different product categories.

A delegation from the Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker is in New York City this week, meeting with potential licensees at the annual Licensing Expo.

"Licensing relationships represent a growing royalty stream for Goodyear," say company officials.

"Our goal this week is to learn more about the licensing opportunities that are out there for Goodyear," says Bob Paciulan, Goodyear's manager of licensed products.

"What Goodyear is looking for are companies that make very high quality, and in many cases, leadership products." Potential targets include companies in the home/garage, apparel, travel and recreation industries.

"We're serious about growing this end of our business," he adds.
