Michelin earns OE fitment on 2009 Corvette ZR1

June 24, 2008

In 1953, General Motors Corp. launched the Corvette. Fifty-five years later, the first Corvette with a Michelin original equipment tire will hit the streets.

The 2009 Corvette ZR1 will sport Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 OE tires, a first for Michelin North America Inc. Both the front (P285/30ZR19) and rear (P335/25ZR20) sizes are run-flat sizes, designated as ZP (for Zero Pressure).

The announcement comes on the heels of the company's introduction of two replacement run-flat sizes for the PS2 (see "Michelin adds two ultra-high performance tires to the Pilot Sport family," June 23, 2008). The ZP sizes, 245/45ZR17 95Y and 275/40ZR18 99Y, will be available on Aug. 1, 2008.

Two additional replacement sizes for the Corvette C6 -- 245/40ZR18 93Y and 285/35ZR19 99Y -- will be added to the line in October.
