Bridgestone/Firestone breaks ground for new distribution center

July 11, 2002

Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) broke ground today in Lebanon, Tenn., on a new 750,000 square foot distribution center.

Once completed, the new building will have capacity for more than a million tires, including passenger, industrial and OTR. It also will be the largest Bridgestone/Firestone distribution center in the country.

The site will become BFNT's primary distribution center for its customers in the mid-South. The company says that it will have the ability to provide overnight delivery service to more than 98% of its customers within a 500-mile radius. BFNT says inventory is expected to move quickly through the warehouse to their final destination, staying at the facility less than three weeks.

The distribution center will be leased by BFNT from the Panattoni Development Co.
