Mold making plant to be closed by Goodyear

Aug. 9, 2002

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will be closing its Stow, Ohio, mold manufacturing facility in October.

"Stow simply could not be competitive and was unable to overcome a combination of factors, including an overall reduction in the demand for molds and the high cost structure at the facility," says Lowell Dunckel, Goodyear's senior vice president of global product supply. "Stow has been operating at less than a third of its capacity."

The facility has 32 salaried and 120 hourly workers.

No decision has been made on the disposition of the equipment, building or property, the company adds.
