Michelin Tire North America Inc. has introduced a radial tire specifically designed for straddle carriers, aircraft push-back vehicles and dock cranes.
The Michelin X Straddle tire is engineered with an optimized tread design that offers even tread wear and precise handling, according to the company. It also minimizes vibration.
A deep, ribbed tread pattern and heavy-duty sidewalls help provide protection against damage and abrasion to the tire and the vehicle.
The X Straddle also is designed to run at higher speeds and under heavy loads while maintaining a cool temperature.
"The need for a durable, long-lasting tire in demanding conditions is critical," says Michael Ford, Michelin Earthmover, market segment manager for ports and terminals.
The consumer wants to move material faster, comfortably and with little downtime, he adds.
