Certified Tire buys seven Winston stores

Moreno Valley, Calif.-based Certified Tire & Auto Service has acquired seven Winston Tire outlets from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., four in San Diego, Calif., and three in Riverside County, Calif.

"San Diego is a new market for us," says Certified Tire President Jeff Darrow.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The transaction gives Certified a total of 19 outlets.

Goodyear acquired Winston Tire outlets a few months ago via bankruptcy court proceedings.

Winston, formerly owned by Performance Management Inc. in Lafayette, La., filed for Chapter 11 protection last January.
