O.K. Tire completes record year

Nov. 29, 2002

Despite a slow economy in Canada, O.K. Tire Stores Inc. set a number of records in the last year, according to CEO Ken MacLeod.

"The new strategic vision, in addition to the hard work that every one in the organization has put forth over the past 12 months, has certainly paid off with record sales for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2002," he says.

"Not only did we record the highest sales, but we also had more franchisees join us this past year than any other year."

O.K. Tire recorded in excess of $250 million (Canadian) in retail sales. The company also posted a record sales month for September.

The new fiscal year has begun where the previous one left off. O.K. Tire announced a record sales month for October.

The company's aggressive national and regional advertising campaign, including its sponsorship of the Canadian Football League, has helped increase company awareness, says MacLeod. "Having Gordie Howe, Mr. Hockey, as our corporate spokesperson has also helped us to add much credibility to our store network."

O.K. Tire, based in Langley, British Columbia, is the eighth largest tire distribution network in North America, with more than 225 franchisees, according to Modern Tire Dealer.
