East Bay says 'aloha' to 2 retail stores

Dec. 10, 2012

East Bay Tire Co. recently purchased R&G Tire Center Inc., a two-store retail dealership based on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Co-founded in 1998 by Rod and Ginger Carvalho, R&G Tire has locations in Hilo (their daughters, Kim and Jennifer, work there) and Kona. They carry a wide variety of consumer, industrial, agricultural, lawn and garden, OTR and commercial truck tires.

East Bay Tire has been a primary tire supplier to R&G since it opened for business.

“We’re experiencing growth in our company and it made strategic sense to expand our presence in Hawaii," says George Pehanick, CEO of East Bay Tire. "The entire staff at R&G will be staying on, and we will be taking advantage of their market expertise to continue growing our business.”

East Bay Tire was founded in 1946. The fourth generation, family owned company is based in Fairfield, Calif. It has wholesale distribution centers in Fairfield, Fresno, Benicia, Bay Area, Sacramento and Pittsburg, Calif., and Waipahu, Hawaii.

The Dawg Pound premium line of construction, agricultural and material handling tires is manufactured exclusively for East Bay Tire.
