TIA ends discussions with ITEC

April 8, 2009

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) will not participate in the 2010 International Tire Exhibition & Conference (ITEC).

According to an article published in the March 30, 2009, issue of Tire Business, TIA was set to "organize the aftermarket educational program" for the event. The newspaper also referred to TIA as "our aftermarket conference chair" in a promotional ad.

"The Tire Industry Association had been in very preliminary discussions with Crain Communications, parent company of the 2010 International Tire Exhibition & Conference, to provide them with educational content," said TIA in an official statement. "At no time was there ever a signed agreement between our organizations to provide this educational content, or for TIA to be the Aftermarket Conference Chair for this conference.

"We have made the decision to cease any further discussions with Crain concerning ITEC, and we maintain our commitment to our Tires, Wheels & Equipment Section."

The Tires, Wheels & Equipment Section is part of the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, which will be held Nov. 3-6, 2009, in Las Vegas.
