Hennessy Industries and Modern Tire Dealer recently presented a webinar on the “Best Practices for a Smooth Transition to Lead-Free Wheel Weights.”
During the free 45-minute presentation, Kevin Keefe, Hennessy vice president of marketing, and Greg Smith, publisher of Modern Tire Dealer, covered:
* How and why dealers should manage the switch on their own timetable;
* How dealers can avoid inventory and distribution problems as well as penalties and fines for noncompliance;
* The best alternatives to lead and the differences between the various options; and
* Legislative updates, including which states have already banned lead weights and other pending legislation.
Things to consider when choosing an alternative to lead weights include fit, size, corrosion resistance, price and the environmental impact of the new material, Keefe noted. His company produces BADA steel and lead weights.
