Louisville, Ky.-based Ken Towery's AutoCare SuperCenters opened a new store this past Monday and plans to open two more outlets next month.
The new store is located in Louisville and boasts nine service bays. "It's hit the ground screaming," David Wilson, Ken Towery's director of wholesale, told www.moderntiredealer.com.
A former 84 Lumber location, the facility received a complete facelift, according to Wilson. It's already picking up a lot of business from an adjacent Ford Motor Co. factory, he notes.
Next month's new stores will open in Louisville and Lexington, Ky. The Louisville store will contain 10 service bays, while the Lexington outlet will contain eight bays. Each store will feature a state-of-the-art showroom with wooden floors, custom-built counters and 50-inch-plus plasma screen TV sets.
And there are more stores in the works, says Wilson, including a 10-bay outlet that will open this June in Mt. Washington, Ky., a Louisville suburb.
With 17 retail stores, Ken Towery's AutoCare SuperCenters is the 70th largest independent tire store chain in the U.S., according to the Modern Tire Dealer 100. The dealership sells Michelin, BFGoodrich, Hankook, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Uniroyal, Continental, General, Firestone and Kumho brand tires.
The company's president, Ken Towery, was the winner of Modern Tire Dealer's 2008 Tire Dealer of the Year award.
