Goodyear names Kramer CEO and president

Feb. 24, 2010

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has promoted Richard Kramer to CEO and president, effective April 13, replacing Bob Keegan, who will remain as executive chairman of Goodyear's board.

Kramer also has been elected to Goodyear's board of directors.

Kramer, 46, was named Goodyear's chief operating officer in June 2009. "He spent the previous three years successfully leading the company's North American Tire business with a focus on customers and new product and process innovation," say Goodyear officials.

"Prior to his North America assignment, he spent three years as executive vice president and chief financial officer." He joined the Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker in 2000 as director of corporate finance.

Prior to his start with Goodyear, Kramer spent 13 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he served in a variety of roles, eventually attaining partner status.

"Rich brings to the table a deep knowledge of Goodyear, our global markets, manufacturing, finance and technology, which will lead Goodyear to the next level," says Keegan.

Keegan, 62, joined Goodyear in 2000 as chief operating officer. He became CEO and president in January 2003 and was named chairman later that year. Pre-Goodyear, Keegan worked for the Eastman Kodak Co., where he served as executive vice president.
