ToolTech 2010, sponsored by the Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI), drew more than 125 professionals to Napa Valley, Calif., recently.

The annual conference was highlighted by more than a dozen industry speakers on topics including the following:

* trends in OE diagnostic strategies;

* updating traditional undercar service products;

* tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) updates;

* the trend toward comprehensive repair services;

* insurance industry goals;

* the role and obligations of original equipment manufacturers; and

* the future of remote OBD.

There also were panel discussions on brake/tire panel on service requirements and heavy-duty aftermarket access to information, and a question and answer session with representatives from the Automotive Service Councils of California (ASCCA).

The presentations and additional information are available on the ETI's Web site: www.etools.org.

The ETI also presented its findings on the recently completed "TPMS and Telematics Market Research" study, which was designed to evaluate the use of tire pressure monitoring systems and telematics by automotive repair facilities -- as well as their future business expectations in implementing TPMS and telematics services. (The study is available for purchase on www.etools.org.)

“ToolTech 2010 was one of the best attended and most informative events ETI has put on," says Jessie Korosec, ETI's marketing manager.

ToolTech 2011 will be held the week of May 3, 2011, in Miami Beach, Fla.
