Direct Tire celebrates 36 years today

Watertown, Mass.-based Direct Tire & Auto Service is celebrating its 36th anniversary today, Nov. 24.

Direct Tire founder and current CEO Barry Steinberg opened the dealership on Nov. 24, 1974, with two employees and a tire changing machine.

The company has since grown to encompass four retail locations in Massachussetts: Watertown, Peabody, Natick and Norwood. Direct Tire employs 86 people.

Steinberg was Modern Tire Dealer's first Tire Dealer of the Year in 1993.
