Two years ago, former  Bridgestone Americas Inc. Chairman, CEO and President Mark Emkes told people that the $100 million Americas Technical Center in Akron, Ohio, would be up and running by the end of 2011.

That included a parking deck (cost: $6 million to $7 million) connected to the tech center.

He wasn't too far off. On April 11, 2012, Bridgestone held a grand opening for its state-of-the-art facility.

Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich, a "homer" if there ever was one, was in attendance. He writes about the big investment in his hometown in his latest blog, "Bridgestone builds world-class tech center in... Akron, Ohio."
