There is a reason David Lee Roth and Van Halen sang about Panama. Tourists visit the Central American country for its warm weather and beaches. Overseas companies like to take advantage of its status as a free trade zone to the rest of Central America and South America.
And it is home to the 2015 Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo, which began today, July 16.
Latin Expo Group LLC CEO Gus Lima and Show Organizer Linda Bassitt literally led a parade onto the trade show floor, where 210 exhibitors from around the globe waited to talk with attendees. (Final attendance numbers will be released post-show.)
Chinese tire companies dominated the two floors of booth space. On day two of the sixth-annual event, show organizers have lined up eight conference speakers, including David Shaw, who will speak about "China's tire industry and its place in the world of tires." Shaw is head of research for Tire Industry Research.
Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
