The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) predicts U.S. total tire shipments will be 314 million units in 2015, up slightly more than 1% compared to 2014 shipments.
Passenger and medium/heavy truck original equipment and replacement shipments are expected to increase in 2015. Light truck original equipment and replacement tire shipments are projected to decrease.
Shipments of replacement tires for passenger vehicles and light trucks are expected to be flat, with passenger tires up a tenth of a percent and LT shipments down two-tenths of a percent. Shipments of commercial truck tires are projected to rise 3.8%.
