U.S. tire shipments are projected to eclipse 312 million units in 2015, with medium and heavy truck tires leading the way for both the original equipment and replacement tire markets.
The latest forecast by the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) projects a 9.1% increase in OE truck tire shipments, and a 3% increase in replacement truck tire shipments compared to 2014. (The upturn follows the impressive numbers of 2014, when truck tire shipments increased 18.2% for OE and 10.8 % for replacement tires.)
Generally, the outlook for truck tire shipments in 2015 has been on the rise all year long. Here’s a look at how the RMA’s projections have changed throughout the year, compared to 2014 final figures. All numbers are in millions and figures are rounded.
