Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. was a returning sponsor of the 29th annual “Catch the Fun” Big Bear Bash in Big Bear Lake, Calif. Corvettes West is a member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC) and supports the Future Corvette Owners Association (FCOA).
Corvettes West hosts this event every year for people to experience the history and power of the Corvette. Kumho says the event is an opportunity to create exposure and excitement around Kumho tires.
Corvettes West Big Bear Bash was held over the weekend of July 8-10th, and encompassed a funkana race, a car show, an autocross event and a “rally around the lake.” The popular funkana race encompassed a blind-folded driver being directed by the passenger to navigate a golf cart through an obstacle course.
The car show featured a 1962 Corvette Stingray and a 2011 C6 ZO6. Sixty racers participated in the rally around the lake and paraded throughout Big Bear to show off their Corvettes.
For the autocross event, trophies and cash prizes were awarded for fastest times around the course, as well as for the most attractive in show, courtesy of Kumho Tire. On hand was Kumho’s 80 foot motorsports truck displaying various Kumho products.
“Corvettes West’s ‘Catch the Fun’ Big Bear Bash was a successful display of the raw muscle and the incredible history of the Corvette,” says Charles van Heusden, product planning and training manager for Kumho Tire USA. “It is the excitement these enthusiasts have for their high performing vehicles that Kumho loves to be a part of, and we couldn’t be happier with the turn out and brand awareness this event created.”
