New Scion iQ saves fuel with Goodyear's help

Sept. 9, 2011

Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. has selected the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max as the exclusive original equipment fitment for its new “micro-subcompact” car, the 2012 Scion iQ.

The Scion iQ is only 10 feet long, yet seats four people, making it the world’s smallest four-seater. Scion announced that the iQ will achieve an Environmental Protection Agency's estimated 37 miles per gallon combined fuel economy and will start appearing in dealer showrooms in October 2011.

The standard tire fitment for the 2012 Scion iQ will be size P175/60R16.

The Assurance Fuel Max features a fuel-saving tread compound that helps reduce energy loss as the tire rolls. In addition, "Wet and Dry Tread Zones" enhance all-season traction. The Wet Tread Zone features dual aquachannel grooves to help evacuate water away from the tread face when driving on wet roads. The Dry Tread Zone helps enhance handling and grip for confident maneuvering on dry pavement.

The 2012 Scion iQ is not the only fuel efficient vehicle that comes standard with Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires. Four other also feature it at OE: Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Cruze Eco and Ford Fusion S.
