You may see five new passenger tire sizes in your shops in 2015. And double that number of new LT sizes.
The Tire & Rim Association is putting the finishing touches on its 2015 Yearbook, which includes the new sizes not available when the 2014 edition was printed.
As if size proliferation wasn't already a problem, there are no existing sizes that were deemed obsolete. That means there was a net increase in the number of sizes in the aftermarket.
Here are a few examples.
New passenger tire sizes:
275/35R15 (standard load);
305/55R20 (extra load);
P245/40R18 (extra load).
New LT sizes:
LT205/70R15 (Load Range C);
LT215/65R16 (Load Range D);
LT375/40R24 (Load Range F).
Look for a list of all the new consumer sizes in Modern Tire Dealer's January 2015 Facts Issue. The 2015 Tire & Rim Association Yearbook also will list them -- plus new truck, OTR, agricultural, industrial and utility tire sizes!
