Yokohama Tire Corp. has introduced the 101ZL medium truck tire, the latest addition to its Zenvironment line of ecologically friendly truck tires. The 101ZL will be available this October.
It will come in four sizes: 295/77R22.5, 11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 285/75R24.5.
The tire "runs longer and is more trouble-free and efficient than anything we've ever brought to market," says John Cooney, Yokohama's director of commercial sales.
Features includes Yokohama's proprietary Zenvironment construction, which controls casing growth and reduces strain energy in the tire's shoulder; "contact pressure equalizer sipes" that optimize rib contact pressure to resist uneven wear; stress equalizer ribs to boost road contact at the shoulder's edge; serpentine grooves for extra rigidity; and multiple sipes "that create an ideal footprint for optimal rib edge contact pressure," according to company officials.
In addition, the 101ZL has received approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay program, which certifies low rolling resistance tires.
