The Double Coin FT105 medium truck tire has been added to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's list of SmartWay-verified technologies.
Parent company Double Coin Holdings Ltd. claims it is the first Chinese tire manufacturer to qualify for SmartWay certification.
"Our customers have reiterated that the Double Coin brands are extremely important to the profitability of their business and this verified technology allows more end users to benefit from the value provided by Double Coin," says Aaron Murphy, vice president of China Manufacturers Alliance LLC, a subsidiary of Double Coin Holdings.
Double Coin officials say the FT105 runs cooler and helps reduce fuel consumption.
"The FT105 program resulted from a collaborative effort between CMA staff in China and staff in North America, who constantly review global needs in an effort to meet the demands of the ever-changing transportation world."
The tire is part of Double Coin's line-up of fuel efficient truck tires, which includes the FR605 and FD405.
Double Coin will display its fuel efficient tires at the 2010 Mid-America Trucking Show, which begins later this week.
