Michelin rolls out fuel-efficient X One tire

March 25, 2010

Michelin North America Inc. introduced its Michelin X One XDA Energy tire today, March 25, at the Mid-America Truck Show. Michelin calls the tire its "most fuel-efficient drive tire to date."

The tire is available in size 445/50R22.5 and will replace the Michelin X One XDA truck tire.

The X One XDA Energy is more fuel-efficient thanks to "innovative belt designs and Advanced Technology compounds," say Michelin officials. "The Michelin wide single tire is made possible by (Michelin's) Infini-Coil Technology -- more than a quarter-of-a-mile of steel cord wrapped circumferentially around the crown of every X One tire." The technology reduces casing growth and stabilizes contact patch, they add.

The tire also contains Michelin's Matrix Siping Technology, which helps provide extra traction on both dry and wet pavement. "The three-dimensional sipes lock together for the stability normally associated with solid tread blocks."
