Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has announced it will close its plant in Taiwan this summer. The consumer and bus tire plant makes about 3,000 units daily.
The decision is in line with "what has been an on-going effort (by Goodyear) to move to low-cost production," a spokesman for the tiremaker told www.moderntiredealer.com.
"We continue to be committed to our customers in Taiwan. This will be a seamless event as far as they are concerned."
Goodyear Taiwan was established in 1971 after Goodyear acquired Taiwanese tire manufacturer Tung Yung Tire.
