Yokohama Tire Corp. has introduced two OTR tires, the RL42 and the RB42, which are designed for dump trucks but have two different applications.
The RL42 is for hard-packed surfaces and job sites where longer hauls are needed, while the RB42 is made for soft and/or loose surfaces like mud, sand, gravel and rocks.
The RL42 contains circumferential grooves for heat dissipation, a directional tread pattern that improves self-cleaning for extra traction, deep grooves to expel mud and dirt, and other features. It comes in sizes 18.00R33 and 24.00R35.
The RB42 is available in the same sizes. Its features include a zig-zag groove pattern for better traction on muddy and rocky surfaces and large center blocks that increase resistance to cuts and other damage.
Both tires also boast an extra-durable casing and a deep flush tread, says Gary Nash, director of OTR sales for Yokohama. The tires also have steel cord belts to protect against tread punctures, as well as side protection to guard against snags and cuts.
