Nexen breaks ground on plant in Korea

July 6, 2010

Nexen Tire has broken ground on a second plant in Changnyeong, South Korea, that will boost the company's production in South Korea and China to 60 million units.

The new plant will represent a total investment of 1.2 trillion won, say Nexen officials. Trial production runs are expected to begin the end of next year with full-scale manufacturing to begin in March 2012.

Nexen says the plant has been designed to be eco-friendly. "The whole process of the plant is designed for an eco-friendly, automated process with cutting edge technology," say officials.
