Commercial trailer orders are up 103%

July 22, 2010

Commercial trailer orders jumped 103% in June vs. same-month 2009 levels, according to ACT Research.

"Truckload carrier profitability is the key to improved orders of commercial vehicles," says ACT Vice President John Burton. "Initial reports from publicly traded truckload carriers are confirming the healthy rebound we have been sensing in the trucking sector. With capital expenditures muted the past two years, carriers are beginning to show some profits and are reinvesting in their fleets."

ACT, which tracks trucking industry trends and developments, also notes that dry van orders were strong last month.
