Nitto introduces Web site for mobile devices

Aug. 3, 2010

Nitto Tire U.S.A. Inc. has launched a Web site specifically designed for mobile devices, www.mobile.nittotire.com. It includes many of the same features found on www.nittotire.com.

The objectives of the new site are to present mobile-optimized content and make the site compatible with many mobile devices and operating systems, including Apple iPhone, Google Android, RIM Blackberry and Windows Mobile.

"The browser size, images and data were formatted to load quickly on mobile devices," say Nitto officials.

"The mobile site contains similar functionalities as its computer-based counterpart. Users can experience a condensed version of Nitto's newly launched interactive tire selector (www.nittotire.com/TireSelector) to find products by vehicle year/make/model, as well as by specific tire sizes.

"Users can then learn more about the products that match their search on dedicated product pages. These pages include more in-depth information, such as fitment specifications, load and speed rating, size listings and OE/plus-size options."

The site also includes a multi-media page where users can view many of Nitto's educational and motorsports videos.

"Smart phones and cell phones are becoming increasingly more powerful," says Stephen Leu, Nitto's marketing research specialist. "Consumers are increasingly using mobile phones for education and research prior to making a purchase. The increasing prominence of mobile ad platforms supports this trend."

Nitto officials add that the company plans to develop more sophisticated site features as mobile technology advances.
